BEDFORD PARK, The Bronx (WABC) -- Police in the Bronx are searching for a gunman who they say shot a 63-year-old woman in the leg as she took out the trash.
The woman was shot in the leg at 2821 Briggs Ave. just after 9 a.m. Saturday as she was exiting her apartment.
It is unclear who the gunman was firing at or what prompted him to open fire, but detectives were seen earlier in the day trying to get to the bottom of it.
Police are searching for a man in his 30s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots.
The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and is expected to survive.
One woman who lives in the building had no idea what happened but saw the blood trail leading to the trash bins.
